Work you'll do
We’re seeking a Database Engineer Contractor to design, maintain, and improve database environments that support reliable, efficient data operations. This role combines PostgreSQL administration with database development, data modeling, and ETL support.
Key responsibilities
- Administer PostgreSQL databases, including configuration, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Design and develop schemas, tables, views, and other database objects.
- Create and maintain data models aligned to business and technical requirements.
- Analyze database structures and performance; recommend and implement improvements.
- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot ETL processes for moving and transforming data.
- Support data quality, integrity, security, and availability.
- Work with application, analytics, and infrastructure teams on database requirements and solutions.
- Document database designs, processes, and operational procedures.
Required skills
- Strong SQL skills.
- PostgreSQL administration experience.
- Database design and data modeling experience.
- Ability to assess database structures and data requirements.
- Experience developing or supporting ETL processes.
- Clear communication and documentation skills.
Nice-to-have skills
- MongoDB experience.
- Schema mapping experience.
- Experience with legacy database migration.
The expected pay range for this contract assignment is $70-$75 per hour. The exact pay rate will vary based on skills, experience, and location and will be determined by the third-party whose employees provide services to Deloitte.
